What is your job title and role?
My job title is Craft Apprentice and my role is to assist the shop floor with plating and welding. I am also currently attending college completing my Metal Fabricator Level 3 Standard.
What do you enjoy about your apprenticeship at MTE?
I enjoy working within the MTE team to assist in the manufacture of products which are shipped to various projects and industries worldwide. My apprenticeship is also very diverse, I enjoy that every day is different! This means I’m continuously learning new skills and knowledge to help me succeed in my future.
Why did you choose to take an apprenticeship?
I decided to take an apprenticeship as I wanted to gain hands on experience and knowledge within a working environment opposed to taking the full-time education route. I also wanted to learn this trade as it has a bright future in the North East.
What would you say to someone who is considering an apprenticeship in engineering?
I would say that it’s a brilliant opportunity to gain skills and knowledge that you wouldn’t learn in full-time education. It really will set you up for your future!
