This week is National Apprenticeship Week. MTE are committed to developing future talent and providing a platform to build the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career.
We recognise the important role our apprentices play in growing MTE’s capability and the significant contribution they make in helping deliver successful projects to clients worldwide.
Our apprentices are provided with the necessary tools and training to gain the experience and qualifications required for a successful future.
We asked current MTE Technical Apprentice, Marcus Stratton to share his apprenticeship experience so far:
What is your job title and role?
Technical Apprentice – Drawing Office. I am currently working towards an EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering.
What do you enjoy about your apprenticeship at MTE?
I enjoy working alongside the MTE team as they are always willing to help and pass on their skills and knowledge that they have acquired over their careers. I feel that the company is really invested in its apprentices and ensure we are given the necessary assistance to progress and perform well. I also enjoy seeing the theory I learn on my course put into practice.
Why did you choose to take an apprenticeship?
I decided to pursue the Apprenticeship route as I wanted to gain invaluable work experience, alongside working full time and earning a salary. By taking an apprenticeship, I also knew I could gain the same qualifications as going to University, but this way I am able to learn and gain so much more experience. It also gives me an insight into the sector which is great preparation for my future.
What would you say to someone considering an apprenticeship in engineering?
I would tell them to go for it! Personally, for me it has been one of the best things I have done. Not only do you gain valuable hands on experience, you earn a salary whilst doing so and it really helps start your career.
