Sembmarine SLP has completed their contractual agreement to supply a stressed skin firewall clad substation for the Dudgeon offshore wind development.
On the 5th August, Suffolk based offshore engineering specialists, Sembmarine SLP, completed their contractual agreement to supply the substation for the £1.5 billion Statoil, Statkraft and Masdar owned Dudgeon offshore wind farm located approximately 20km off the coast of Norfolk.
In 2015, MTE were subcontracted by Sembmarine to design, manufacture and supply fire and blast walls to the topside structure which has begun its journey to the 32km offshore site.
The 1,700 tonne Lowestoft-built topside will join the 1,300 tonne jacket previously installed in May, earlier this year. The substation utilises suction bucket technology, a first for an offshore substation in UK waters, and will connect to a 67-strong Siemens built turbine grid to supply 410,000 UK homes.
